US Regulators Approved Spectrum for 5G Service

On Thursday, U.S. regulators setup the course for the next generation of wireless services, 5G.  This positions the U.S. to be the first country to allocate airwaves for 5G networks.  This approval will have a strong reaching benefit for both businesses and consumers in the US.  The unanimous approval opens about 11 gigahertz of HF (high frequency) spectrum for mobile and broadband.

Cell Phone Carriers Place Sales Over Customer Education

As part of my wish for my birthday, I outlined that I wanted a world enabled by engaging experiences with NFC.  It bothered me that most people in the USA, were unaware of the technology and I wondered where the root cause of the lack of education was at.  After secret shopping, talking with cellular customers, and engaging with the three major cell phone carriers, it was obvious the problem.  Cell phone carriers want you to make a purchase and leave.  When it came to education, virtually none existed in my questioning as a potential customer.

When it comes to Near Field Communication, I am more than just a co-founder of a company that specializes in it, I am a NFC evangelist. In Europe, Asia, and other areas the technology is booming.  Here in the USA it is ripe for potential and strong adoption, but there are a few things that are preventing the level of engagement I wish for today.
